These are the documents the authorities expect for the lead route. This is a reference list, not an eligibility check: whether any one item is met depends on your own situation. Items marked for apostille must be legalized before they will be accepted.

The Philippines acceded to the Hague Apostille Convention effective 14 May 2019. Foreign public documents (police clearance, birth/marriage certificates, proof of income) from other member states are apostilled in the country of origin rather than consularized at a Philippine embassy. Documents from non-member states still require consular authentication (red-ribbon successor).

For a remote worker, the Philippines has no fully launched digital nomad visa yet, the DNV under Executive Order No. 86 is only announced, not active, so the route that matters most right now is the 9(a) tourist visa with extensions, which lets you stay up to 30 days visa-free initially and then extend, but it’s purely temporary with no path to permanent residency. The bar is low, no income minimum is required, but the paperwork is a recurring hassle of extension visits, and the reported-but-unconfirmed DNV, if it ever goes live, would raise the ceiling to a year but still offer no path to PR. So the bottom line: it’s worth it for a short stint if you can handle the extension bureaucracy, but don’t expect a clean long-term legal foundation here.
