Da Nang cost of living for digital nomads
Da Nang cost of living for digital nomads is $1,300 a month at our monthly tier, and it only holds if you rent like a local, because the same beach one-bedroom shows up on English-language sites at roughly double.
The audit prices a furnished An Thuong or My Khe one-bedroom at $600 a month. Locals pay 8 to 9 million dong for that kind of flat, which is $310 to $349 at the October 28, 2026 rate.

What $1,300 a month covers in Da Nang
The core lines: the beach one-bedroom at $600 a month, a coworking hot desk at $90 a month, groceries for one at $180 a month, a gym at $30 a month, a scooter at $80 a month and a SIM at $5 a month.
That is $985, which leaves $315 for eating out, Grab when it rains and the ATM fees the file tells you to budget for.

The two-tier rent market and how to rent direct
Da Nang runs two rent markets on the same street. The Vietnamese listing and the English listing for one flat can sit roughly double apart.
Rent direct or in Vietnamese and you claw back hundreds a month. Ask in Vietnamese, or bring someone who can, and hold every quote against the audited line before you sign.
My Khe beach against Hai Chau
The beach strip runs $600 a month; Hai Chau, the centre, a bridge inland, runs $400 a month. The $200 difference buys the sea view and a walk to the sand.
The file also notes that beach-strip prices in An Thuong keep creeping up as the zone fills.
Visa reality: the 90-day e-visa
A US passport gets no visa-free entry to Vietnam. The e-visa covers up to 90 days and costs $25 single-entry or $50 multiple-entry, per our Da Nang file, with entry rules verified August 14, 2026.
It is a tourist and business visa, not a residency track. The Vietnam visa file has the longer routes.
Da Nang vs Kuala Lumpur and Chiang Mai
Kuala Lumpur's monthly tier is $1,450, with a furnished KLCC condo at $700 a month. The Kuala Lumpur cost of living page has its rent split.
Chiang Mai lands at $1,300 on the same tier: Chiang Mai vs Da Nang, line by line.
Figures last verified July 12, 2026 (Da Nang city audit). Entry rule verified August 14, 2026. VND at 25,802 per US dollar on October 28, 2026.
